Worldbuilding Insights from BioWare: Dragon Age: The Veilguard and the Culinary Wonders of Thedas

Recently, BioWare conducted a developer Q&A session on Discord, providing fans with the opportunity to inquire about the highly anticipated Dragon Age: The Veilguard. As the fourth main installment in the Dragon Age series, curiosity among enthusiasts has naturally grown over time.

Interestingly, one inquisitive participant posed a question about the existence of pasta and noodles in Thedas, the fantasy setting of Dragon Age. Matt Rhodes from BioWare embraced the inquiry as an opportunity to discuss worldbuilding.

He emphasized that creating an engaging and realistic world involves attention to various elements, ranging from architecture, landscapes, biomes, and ecosystems, to aspects like art, culture, costume design, and food. He noted that their team explored these facets to capture the unique character and atmosphere of the world, making it feel authentic and lived-in.

Ultimately, Rhodes confirmed that at least one region within Thedas does feature pasta, hinting at the possibility of a unique, fantasy-inspired twist when Dragon Age: The Veilguard debuts later this year.
