Telegram is one of the most popular messaging apps in the world that can boast a wide range of useful features. The developers of Telegram constantly work on enhancing their app and this time the upcoming update concerns sharing of spoilers in chats. You cannot find this new feature in any other messaging apps, so it’s definitely interesting to see how it works.
According to the subreddit Telegram post, the application will soon support the hiding of movie-related spoilers. The post created by Dylan Roussel shows a screen recording in which the new feature can be opened by long-pressing on selected text. If you enable this feature on a specific message and then send it, it will be pixelated, so that people who don’t want to run into spoilers won’t be able to see them. If someone in the chat wants to see a message containing a spoiler, they can simply tap on it. It is important that all people in the chat know what this new feature means, as there will simply be a small eye icon next to a hidden message and they may not know that it contains a spoiler.
At the moment, it seems that this feature will only be used to hide text. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if developers decide to also allow users to hide images in the same way. Another thing to note is that the subreddit post showed this feature in a Telegram channel, so it’s difficult to tell whether you will be able to use it in the group or one-on-one chats right from the start. The video has been recorded on an iPhone, but it’s more than likely that this feature will be available for Android users, considering the cross-platform approach of Telegram.
