Did you know that Meta is a gaming platform as well? Yes, it is, and the planned event in April will make it clear for everyone. Of course, this is not your usual gaming event: Meta Quest Gaming Showcase is meant to demonstrate the power of wireless virtual reality platform Meta is building its metaverse upon, and this will be anything but usual.
Previously known as Oculus Gaming Showcase, this event is focused on VR games. Meta, the owner of Oculus, now heavily invests into VR games and other experiences that can become the base of the much spoken-about metaverse. So far, Quest is still perceived by many as a potential platform, a perspective rather than an actual gameverse, a place for playable titles. Logically, the event will first of all address this exact problem.
Of course, the primary thing to expect from this event is games. Titles. Developers. Trailers. Experiences. More titles. More materials. And, as Meta put it, many surprises. Will there be a real killing feature, the one that makes you want to buy Oculus Quest and really enjoy it after? Let’s recollect the “VR for the masses” initiative by Google. After a few years, Google Cardboard, affordable, simple, and with impressive content, was dropped. But Google hadn’t announced its Metaverse like Meta did. So, this time it will certainly go further, with famous developers already making its titles for VR.
The event starts on April 20, at 18:00 BST. It’s not clear yet whether it will be able to deliver any relevant experience if you don’t own an Oculus VR headset by Oculus. But even watching it on your familiar display may give you some perspective on what’s coming.
Are you already among Quest owners? Are you satisfied with the experience it delivers, or does it still lack something? Share your experience with us in the comments, no matter if it’s before or after the event!
