Celebrate 30 Years of PlayStation with Nostalgic PS5 Themes Inspired by Classic Consoles

To mark a significant milestone, Sony has introduced a selection of themes for the PlayStation 5, allowing users to customize their home screen and menus with designs inspired by the PSOne, PS2, PS3, and PS4. This initiative is part of the festivities celebrating the 30th anniversary of PlayStation, which occurs on December 3. A recent update for the PS5 now enables players to enjoy these nostalgic themes. After downloading the update, users can embark on a journey through PlayStation's storied past by selecting these classic themes. The availability of these themes is temporary, as noted in the menu option that indicates a limited time for changing the designs. As part of this anniversary celebration, users have the opportunity to alter various components of the PS5’s design, including bootup sounds and visuals reminiscent of earlier PlayStation generations, specifically the PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4.

Players can customize the appearance of their PS5 according to their preferred console era. Each theme brings a unique touch to the home screen and other areas of the interface.

The PSOne theme showcases the original console as the home screen backdrop, while the PS2 theme incorporates its distinctive menu shapes. The PS3 theme introduces a flowing wave background, and the PS4 theme features similar wave patterns that fans will recognize from the previous generation. All themes come complete with authentic sound effects that harken back to each console’s era.

In addition to these themes, PlayStation has more planned for the anniversary celebration, including the release of a variety of PSOne-themed hardware.
