The dating service Tinder was created to find a couple based on your given parameters and geolocation. And if earlier users could like and dislike someone based on profile photos, then soon a blind date option will be available on this platform. As part of the Fast Chat: Blind Date option, the application can connect two people using only the information they have provided in their questionnaires.
It will look like this. Before entering the chat, each participant will be asked to answer a few short questions. The Tinder algorithm automatically determines the appropriate interlocutor based on the received data. You will be transferred to a separate chat with a timer. During this time, you can chat and try to get to know each other better. By the way, you will be able to see your partner’s answers.
When the allotted period expires, you can like the one with whom you texted. If a “match” occurs, then you will have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the profile of the interlocutor. If it does not happen, you can start a dialogue with a new person. Now, instead of the usual assessment of the user’s appearance, you can make a first impression based on a chat.
According to the developers, this functionality made it possible to create 40% more “matches” than with the “classic” dating method at the testing stage. This feature is currently only available in the US but will be added to apps worldwide very soon. Thus, Tinder is probably trying to get rid of the label of a “shallow” app that focuses solely on people’s appearance. The new format slightly repeats previous years’ experience, when smartphones were not so actively used to find a date.
Do you think this function meets the needs of the time? Do you plan to use it? Or is it too risky a move, in your opinion?
